South Beach Mission and its member churches are not either a LLC or a Partnership. This is a church. We are “NON PROFIT RELIGIOUS CORPORATION” and there is no stock. We are organized for religious purposes only. ““Religious” corporation means a corporation which is organized primarily or exclusively for religious purposes.” The government has no right to involve itself in religious organizations according to the supreme court ruling.
Federal court has ruled, “Neither this Court, nor any branch of this Government, will consider the merits or fallacies of a religion. Nor will the Court compare the beliefs, dogmas, and practices of a newly organized religion with those of an older, more established religion. Nor will the Court praise or condemn a religion, however excellent or fanatical or preposterous it may seem. Were the Court to do so, it would impinge upon the guarantees of the First Amendment……”
ORS 65.042 Religious corporations; constitutional protections. If religious doctrine or practice governing the affairs of a religious corporation is inconsistent with the provisions of this chapter on the same subject, the religious doctrine or practice shall control to the extent required by the Constitution of the United States or the Constitution of this state, or both.
